SPECIAL EDITIONS

We conceive the photobook as an author's work that is constructed from a process where the author develops a narrative in which the images, the story, the text, the materials, the format and all the elements form a unique piece of limited print runs.

At INFRAMUNDO we have developed special editions by experimenting with materials, printing and binding methods that allow authors to develop their work, share it with the viewer and present it in forums around the world.

PROCESS

INFRAMUNDO stems from the 2016 and 2017 editions of our educational program Incubadora de Fotolibros , where participants work on their projects with a variety of publishers, artists and designers from around the world.
Given the quality of the projects developed, the need arose for a way of making possible the publication of the photobooks that did not involve the cost of an offset edition and at the same time allowed experimentation with printing in various processes such as laser, inkjet, screen printing, among others, different materials and forms of manual binding.

These special editions are the result of collaborative practices with the authors that allow for the development of
new ways of conceiving and producing photobooks in Mexico, with local materials and producers.

From this experience, INFRAMUNDO was born in 2018 with the publication of 22 special edition photobooks,
which we presented at fairs in different countries with an extraordinary response from the public.
to the quality of the narrative proposal and the use of the materials in these books.  The special editions that
We produce offer a variety of interesting possibilities.

On the one hand, they allow authors to realise their projects on demand and to disseminate their work.
And on the other hand, it offers us the opportunity to produce limited print runs with special materials that turn
We have thus made possible the materialisation of the book into unique pieces of extraordinary materiality.
both photobooks by young authors and by renowned artists such as Antoine d'Agata and Joan Fontcuberta.

We continue with special editions projects, working with new authors with whom we produce
long-term collaborative processes.
